Preparation

To get started playing Escape From Undeath: Mistlocke couldn't be easier. First things first. You will need a copy of Neverwinter Nights and both expansion packs. If you don't already have it, the easiest way to get it is to buy Neverwinter Nights: Diamond (Everything on one easy disc/digital purchase), which is available as a download through Good Old Games for $10 or you can often find it in the bargain bin of your local games retailer.
Escape From Undeath: Mistlocke is set in the Forgotten Realms fantasy setting. If you're not already familiar with Forgotten Realms, you can learn everything you could possibly want to know from the Forgotten Realms Wiki. It is important to note that we use the Forgotten Realms setting as a useful starting part for our setting, but the specifics about EFU and the areas in which the world is focused are entirely non-canon and custom.
You might also consider reading some posts such as building a good character and familiarise yourself with both the Core Rules here and when you have a chance, glancing over the more detailed conduct rules in the information section.
Getting Playing
Once you have installed and set up Neverwinter Nights for your computer you will want to select the "multiplayer" option from the main menu. You will be taken to the server list which shows all the available Neverwinter servers run by other people. You can find us by clicking the "PW Story" section on the left hand side. or by clicking the "Direct Connect" button and typing in our server address "efu.us.to".

Remember to click the "Add to Favourites" button to make finding the server a lot easier in the future!
You will also want to register on our forums. The forums are as much a part of the game world as the Neverwinter Nights server and are a vital foundation of both in character and out of character communication within our community. Here you post bulletins and organise factions and also socialise with/get to know other players. We also welcome you to our IRC channel to come and meet more of the community. The IRC channel is a freeform area where people can get together and chat out of character with other players in real time.
If you are running the game from Windows, feel free to download and use our custom launcher, it will streamline your process of getting to the server and generally looks neat.
Making a Character at a Glance
If you've never played a game like this before it really is a good idea to take a look over Your First Character. Your character is your presence in this world and therefore how to start him off will be vital to how much you get out of playing here. Try to come up with something interesting that you can imagine roleplaying succssfully. Consider factors such as background, personality, quirks, talents, faith, and goals. If you're a new player, bear in mind that EFU is mechanically a very challenging server, so playing something more durable may help you survive a bit longer!
Please keep in the mind some of the following restrictions:
- Your appearance should be appropriate for your race (i.e. no crazy skin colors).
- Although we have lots of subraces available, most of the unusual ones require an application and a proven record of understanding our server. For now it's best to start off with a default race.
- Your character's name should be setting appropriate and make sense. It should also be original, and not taken from a major fictional or real life figure (i.e. no Gandalf, Drizzt Do'urden, or Barack Obama).
The Starting Area
All new characters will start in the starting area. This is an OOC area and seperate from the rest of game world. Here you'll be stripped of the default items that NWN gives to all created characters and given some special server items, a little gold and enough experience points to bring you up to level 2. In this area you can find additional information that may help you get started.
You will also find a starting item dealer where you can choose some starting equipment. You also have the option of taking the time to craft a non-magical but customized outfit for your character to wear.
When you're ready to start playing, go through the Portal to the Ziggurat. Remember that there will be no return to this initial starting area once you begin.
On arrival to the Ziggurat, your first objective should be - survival! Follow the advice from the NPCs and follow the signs, and you'll make it to Mistlocke soon enough. Good luck - you will need it.
